Received a text from Chris about his weekend in Singapore…so far he has ridden a Segway around the island, flown in mid air in the IFly ( each jump is 12,000 feet, Wayne and Chris did 3 jumps each ) , dined at one of the top ten restaurants in the world, kissed a Chinese bride, whilst every night he goes to the bar and listens to live music and drink with the band members afterward.
Lydia and Lottie……
….are coming to visit! Woo hooooo!
Ready, Set, Go
Ok, time to take a deep breath. The guys are on their way to Coffs Harbour to see Dorothy and catch up with friends for a final au revoir before leaving for Singapore. Meanwhile I am about have a final two weeks in Australia luxuriating on the Gold Coast.
The past three weeks have been unbelievable! We have once again packed up our home, placed it all in long term storage ( including the two cars ), found a home to lease in London, and….commenced building a home in Brisbane. There were moments we all thought ‘it can’t be done’ but we made it!
Takeaway
Let the takeaway fest begin! We are almost totally packed which means no pesky cooking utensils readily available for use.
So we have commenced our takeaway fest until we leave and immediately subverted some friends into joining us. Actually we kinda invited ourselves around to a very dear friend’s home and began our fest there. So after all deciding on our various choices followed by one of us ( she shall remain nameless as she would NEVER live this down ) tried to order the Chinese at the Indian restaurant, we all ate well and drank particularly well with a few of Wayne’s ‘they have to be drunk now’ reds……..:))
Chris and Millie in Sydney
It’s Official
February 16th is the day Chris and Wayne leave for Europe. I will be hot on their heels two weeks later! We have commenced our new house project in Brisbane in earnest but it will not be completed until late November. So we have madly commenced packing, sorting paperwork, getting everything signed, visas etc and once again organizing storage for our stuff. Feeling a little nervous but excited at the same time….:)
Dinner with Lydia and Craig (aka Clive)
Yummy dinner a la webber, lots of liquids to imbibe, and fabulous friends. A great evening with Chris, Wayne, Lydia and Craig ( whose secret nom de plume is Clive!).
Pass The Tissues Please
What can I say…last day in Singapore and I woke up with an incredibly bad sinus attack. I am talking snot everywhere! Rivers of it in fact! Despite the fabulous business class upgrade on the flight home I was not a pretty sight when we landed. Even Lydia was shocked, or at least she looked shocked, it could have been just the way she looks after an overnight return flight. Anyway, I did zip into the Doctors, grabbed some medication and went to bed for a few days. It is only just now I have emerged and will post a Singapore photo album over the next few days.
Sentosa
We rode the cable car across to Sentosa……and yes, I had to close my eyes when we left the platform! But Lydia assured me it was safe to open them and I would not feel like leaping out of the cable car. There still were a couple of intense moments when we were above open water and the final tower just before the island was EXTRA tall. Sentosa was lovely with lots to do.
Dinner at Newtons Circus
It was muggy, it was hot, it had just finished raining, but we headed off to Newtons Circus for some dinner. We had barbecued garlic butter tiger prawns, fried rice, some sort of vegetable dish I have totally forgotten the name of, tiger beer, green fresh coconut and the highlight (????) of our selection….. stingray. What can I say about stingray? Hmmmm, weeeeeeell, I think that the rubber wing section that I first had a taste of is not the place to start when first trying sting ray. Lydia tucked into the fleshier section from around the body area and really enjoyed it. So may be next time I will be a little braver and give stingray another try!
